Welcome to Cogito.

In the past few years I’ve been all over the Internet. I’ve authored a fair number of blogs, abandoned them, and moved on to start new blogs (often about the same things). My longest running project has been via crucis, a blog about Christianity and scriptural honesty. That blog’s big break was a response I wrote to Jeff Sharlet’s article on abstinence in Rolling Stone.

All the while I was really itching to write on topics that just didn’t fit with via crucis. I wanted to write about technology, the web, philosophy, science, or any other tidbit that crossed my mind. So, I started Putting the Action in Distraction. Even though I love writing for the web, both of my blogs were hosted at free blogging sites. I had some issues with commitment. I let too many blogs die to justify actually registering a domain and paying for hosting.

That has changed, and quite honestly, I’ve gotten addicted to writing. After my little taste of traffic on via crucis, I hit the jackpot over at Blogger when I wrote an article about Facebook and CIA data-mining. It generated a fair amount of buzz, then Blogger featured me as a “Blog of Note” and traffic went through the roof. Before I knew it, the spokesman for Facebook had responded, and now my blog is a reference in the Wikipedia article about Facebook.

I didn’t start this entry with the intent to brag. Honest. I guess I’m trying to establish my blogger “street cred” and make sure that my noteworthy articles stay alive with some linkage. That said, I’m going to suspend blogging at Putting the Action in Distraction and via crucis, and consolidate all my writing here at Cogito, organized by category rather than spread out across numerous blogs.

I’ve already gone on long enough.

Welcome to Cogito. Stay tuned for lots of fresh content. Make yourself at home with the new bells and whistles, and as always, your thoughtful comments are encouraged. Thanks for reading.

Descarts walked into a bar and had a drink. Later the bartender asked him, “Would you like another one.”

He replied, “I think not,” and–poof–disappeared.
