If the activity of this website has been any indication, I have been sickeningly busy for the past couple of weeks. I have not ignored the engaging comments on my last entry, but at this point, I plan to address the issues in a new article rather than lately rejoin the discussion.
This said, I would like to give a little taste of upcoming articles on Cogito.
FOR CHRISTIANS
1. Christians & Government: Laissez-faire Citizenship in a Modern Democracy
What is the Christian’s role as a citizen? In this article, I examine the scriptural, historical and philosophical authority for Christians in government, and contrast the concepts of spiritual kingdoms and physical commonwealths.
2. A History of Eschatology: The Millennial Reign and Other Modern Theological Innovations
Do fascinating stories as told by “theologians” like Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins hold any water? I’ll analyze the concept of the “Rapture”, the so-called “Millennial Reign” of Jesus on earth and other apocalyptic eschatology.
I’d also like to look at the recent discovery of the apocryphal Gospel of Judas, and consider some theological questions concerning his role in God’s plan for man’s redemption.
FOR ALL THINKERS
1. Free Saddam & Pardon Hitler: Humanist Ethics and Natural Selection
In societies where a dictator’s word is the law of the land, what standard do other world governments have to deem such behavior “wrong”? In this article I’ll review the historic Nuremberg trials and consider their metaphysical implications. I’ll also touch on Darwin and Machiavelli, examining politics from an evolutionary perspective. Why is absolute power not lauded as the pinnacle of human evolution?
2. ‘Abortion’, ‘Reproductive Rights’ and Other Political Equivocation.
In a society where a developing human is coldly referred to as a “fetus”, and the termination of that life is referred to as “abortion”, it’s high time to confront the clinical jargon that serves to desensitize and confuse. This article will discuss the true “reproductive rights” and the accompanying personal responsibility.
Of course, I am also going to write about the Big Bang as faith, reiterate and better emphasize my original points, and discuss the metaphysical implications and unscientific allowances for the theory. This will tie in to my article concerning evolutionary politics, humanism and ethics.
I look forward to exploring these issues and the hearty discussion that will likely follow. Thanks for reading. Check back soon!
